Cameron and Avery to Address Senate Committee
Washington, D.C. – Explorer and director James Cameron will be on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, June 11, with Dr. Susan Avery, president and director of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for a series of public events and a Senate hearing. Central to their visit is the display of the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER, the only human-occupied vehicle currently able to access the deepest parts the ocean.

NOAA, Partners Test Red Tide Robot to Detect Shellfish Toxins
Recently, NOAA and partners conducted the first field test of an underwater robot using a NOAA-developed sensor that enables remote, automated measurements of paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs). PSTs are produced by the dinoflagellate Alexandrium, the algae that causes toxic red tides in the Gulf of Maine.
UK needs up to 32 factories to build windfarm components, says report
As many as 32 new factories will be needed to build the components for the fleet of British offshore windfarms envisaged under the government's current renewable energy plans, potentially creating tens of thousands of jobs, a new report has found. So far, only 10 such factories have been built or are planned in the UK, according to Renewable UK, the trade association for wind companies.
